The Akron Zoo, located on 50 acres just west of downtown, is a world conservation zoo accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). As an AZA member, your Akron Zoo participates in breeding programs to save endangered species. When you visit the zoo, you'll come nose-to-nose with more than 700 animals, including endangered Humboldt penguins, snow leopards, jellyfish, Sumatran tigers, jaguars, Komodo dragons and much more. Marvel at the Lehner Family Zoo Gardens with over 7,000 plants and flowers indigenous to Northeast Ohio.

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is consistently ranked as one of the top zoo's in the country. Opened in 1875, it is the nation's second oldest zoo and a national historic landmark. The zoo's 75 acres house more than 500 animal species and 3000 plant varieties and has over 1.2 million visitors annually. This not-for-profit entity is internationally known for its success in the protection and propagation of endangered animals and plants, and engages in research and conservation projects around the world.

The mission of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is to improve the future for wildlife by exhibiting animals and plants and providing education and conservation programs which encourage respect and stewardship of the natural world and a better understanding of our place within it.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is home to 3000 animals representing 600 species, many of which are endangered. Located just five minutes from downtown Cleveland, the Zoo is one of the largest and oldest in the country. And, the Zoo is a botanical garden demonstrating the relationship between plants, animals and humans. The Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums and participates in more than 50 Species Survival Plans.

Home to more than 700 species, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is known around the world for leadership in breeding endangered species, promoting conservation efforts and providing educational programs to more than one-quarter of a million people annually. The precursor to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was formed in 1927 when the Columbus Zoological Park opened it’s doors with a small collection of donated animals. Today, the Columbus Zoological Park Association governs the entire 580 acre complex that includes the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Zoombezi Bay Water Park and Safari Golf Club.
