The National Aquarium in Baltimore seeks to stimulate interest in, develop knowledge about, and inspire stewardship of aquatic environments. The Aquarium strives to blend naturalistic exhibit elements with the most modern interpretive techniques, engaging visitors by focusing on the beauty of the aquatic world and thereby eliciting an emotional response and awakening in visitors the desire to be environmentally responsible. Exhibits are designed to replicate natural environments with typically no unnatural mixing of species; specimens are chosen to give the best examples of the biological concept in an interesting and accurate way. The collections embrace diverse world-wide habitats. The ultimate goal is for the exhibits and programs to spark responsible actions in visitors.

Just off I-83 at Exit 7, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is located in Druid Hill Park and is home to an awe-inspiring array of animals. Visitors can explore The Maryland Wilderness in our hands-on Children's Zoo, before traveling to the far north at Polar Bear Watch, and then on to the wilds of Africa. The Giraffe Feeding Station allows guests to get face-to face with these gentle giants, before taking a trip to visit our African penguin colony and our newest addition to the Zoo, Samson the baby elephant, who lives with his mother Felix and the rest of our elephant herd.
