The Lee Richardson Zoo is often referred to as an oasis on the plains. Nestled on fifty acres in beautiful Finnup Park, the zoo is a favorite gathering spot for nearly 200,000 visitors each year. Over 300 animals, ranging from the elusive snow leopard to elegant flamingos, and African elephants and stately giraffes inspire and educate visitors year round. The zoo is free to pedestrians and accessible to vehicles for a nominal admission. Nestled within 52 acres in the heart of the Flint Hills, Sunset Zoo is home to more than 397 animals representing 84 species, including chimpanzees, red pandas, Siberian tigers, snow leopards and maned wolves. Sunset Zoo is open 360 days each year and hosts 13 special events throughout the year.
