The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, is the world’s largest with more than eight million gallons of water and the largest collection of aquatic animals. Since opening in 2005, the Georgia Aquarium has educated millions of people and hundreds of thousands of students on the importance of ocean life and conservation. The Georgia Aquarium is the only aquarium in the United States that houses whale sharks, the world’s largest fish, and a manta ray, the largest of all rays. These animals live alongside giant grouper, bowmouth guitarfish, largetooth sawfish, a hammerhead shark and thousands of other animals in the 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager exhibit, built by The Home Depot. From beluga whales and otters in the Cold Water Quest gallery to jellies and thousands of brilliantly colored fish in the Tropical Diver gallery, the Georgia Aquarium promises surprise and wonder around every corner.
