Orion Seafood International And The Association of Zoos and Aquariums Announce Partnership

Sales of Healthy Oceans Shrimp to Support Ocean Conservation

Silver Spring, Maryland (June 6, 2008) - The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and Orion Seafood today announced a partnership that will support ocean conservation through the sale of all-natural environmentally sustainable Healthy Oceans® Shrimp.

"AZA-accredited aquariums and zoos are leaders in protecting wildlife and promoting sustainability, which are important values to Orion as well," said AZA President and CEO Jim Maddy. "Orion's commitment is evidenced by the care and quality taken in offering environmentally sustainable products."

"Orion is proud to be partnered with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums," said Orion CEO Charles Anastasia. "The capacity of zoos and aquariums to reach thousands of visitors daily and promote conservation values is unprecedented. Educating visitors about ocean conservation is part of our mission and we're looking forward to moving forward with the partnership."

Orion's new brand, Healthy Oceans® All Natural Farm Raised Shrimp, sparked the partnership because of its sustainability. The product is farmed and processed using certified environmentally responsible and socially ethical practices. Healthy Oceans® Shrimp contains no antibiotics, chemicals, hormones, additives or preservatives which is very important to today's green consumers Additionally, the new bio-degradable bag is designed to completely biodegrade into humus in months, unlike standard polyethylene bags which can take up to 400 years to break down. Orion will donate a portion of the proceeds of this product to AZA's Conservation Endowment Fund (CEF) towards ocean conservation projects. These projects support conservation efforts led by AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums such as marine mammal rescue efforts, coral reef rebuilding, shark tagging, beach clean ups, mangrove protection and more.
