For the Houston Zoo, one of only five zoos in the U.s. that are home to the sifaka, the birth of this baby Coquerels sifaka was a major milestone. There are nine living species of sifika. Their range is not very broad and their numbers are not very large, so sifikas appear as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
