This person will provide input and medial expertise in support of the Mirage Dolphin Habitat collection and serve as staff veterinarian, maintaining the program of veterinary care in accordance with USDA regulations. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and executing a comprehensive preventative animal health care program, including routine monitoring of animals and water quality, medical treatments and effective communication with animal care staff and consultants. The MIRAGE has ongoing research programs and this position is integral in the management and direction of those programs. This position is a part of senior management and participates in decisions concerning animal management, research and conservation. Essential functions include: monitoring the general health and well-being of the collection, developing solutions to perceived medical problems, diagnosing and treating sick animals and communicating with outside experts and consultants in the veterinary field. Supervision is received from the Director of Animal Care.
