Landry’s Downtown Aquarium is an AZA accredited institution located in Denver, Colorado and is seeking an Assistant Curator of Fish and Invertebrates. The Aquarium facility includes over one million gallons of aquatic exhibits, fish, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. Responsibilities include assisting the Curator of Fish and Invertebrates and the Life Sciences Manager with the management of the living fishes, invertebrate, and herp collection. Also assists with animal acquisitions, supervision and training of aquarist staff, managing policies and procedures within aquarist sections, maintaining exhibit aesthetics, water quality and life support systems, establishing appropriate feeding regimes, observing animal health and application of appropriate treatments or actions, assisting with exhibit design and installation, maintaining support areas, and ensuring that all records are up to date and complete. Performs diving duties and demonstrations and participates in the development and delivery of interpretive programs, including public speaking and direct interaction with Aquarium guests. Assists with the inspection and evaluation of the condition of exhibits and life support to determine and/or participate in necessary repairs and modifications. Must hold a valid SCUBA dive certification, have knowledge of aquarium systems and aquatic biology, and have five years prior experience (with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience). A degree in Biology or related field is preferred, but experience with aquatic animal husbandry may be considered. Applicant must be available to work weekends and holidays.
