The Animal Programs Internship Program is accepting applications for 2009 winter interns.

Interns work with our trainers to learn about husbandry, training, and education as the Animal Programs Department encompasses all of those areas. Some of the responsibilities of interns include cleaning, food preparation, assisting with classroom and outreach programs, animal observations, daily presentations, assisting with enrichment, public lorikeet feedings, and observing or assisting in training sessions.

All internships are unpaid and interns are expected to work for a total of 480 hours. These hours may be met by working 5 days per week for 12 weeks or 4 days per week for 15 weeks. This can be flexible to work around school or job schedules. Housing is not provided.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age; lift 50 pounds; work both as a team and independently; self-starter with a positive attitude; ability to interact with the public; speak fluent English; considering a career in the animal care field.
